Edumicate Me - Cookie Gift Box

I was looking for a way to put together a small gift box of cookies - just enough for one person to enjoy. I came up with this little box which will hold 1/2 dozen cookies about 2 1/4" in diameter. I've used the gingersnaps from my previous post in this sample.

The first step is to print out the template onto a cardstock of your choice. I recommend something quite thick/sturdy for this box. I've used SU Chocolate Chip paper here. The template will fit on an 8.5 x 11 sheet, but if your printer is like mine, the edges of the flaps will not print. Don't worry - they go to the very edge of the page so just cut straight out the edges. Cut out your template. Make sure to cut out the rectangle in the lid and the slits in the side flaps.

After you have cut out your template you can decorate it as desired. I've done some random stamping on mine in SU! Chocolate Chip ink. The stamp set is Little Chef by Crafty Secrets. It seemed appropriate for a box of cookies. You could also add patterned paper to one or more of the panels if desired.

Next, cut out a piece of transparency just slightly smaller than the box lid (3.5" x 2.5"). Attach on the underside of the box lid. I use write-on overhead transparencies for these types of projects as I find they are slightly heavier than the kind you run through your printer. Score all the dotted lines on the template and assemble your box. It does not require any adhesive to hold it together.

Cut 7 squares of cardstock 2 3/8 x 2 3/8. Use a crimping tool and crimp the cardstock.

Alternate crimped square of paper with a cookie inside the box. I also put a small piece of glassine paper on the bottom of the box to prevent grease marks from showing through. You could also use wax paper.

Close the lid (tuck the side flaps inside the box) and decorate the outside as desired. To hold the ribbon in place I put a small glue dot in the centre of the bottom of the box. The tags and front label are from Christmas Treats and Limitless Labels by PaperTrey Ink.

Now you have a nice little, personal-size box of homemade cookies to give to someone as a treat or a thank you. A copy of the template used to create this box is available here.< Supplies: Cardstock (SU!, Bazzil), Stamps (Crafty Secrets, Papertrey Ink), Nestabilities (Spellbinders), ribbon, ink (SU!, Palette)

I LOVE this!! And I'm going to have to spend some time on your blog--I'm getting the feeling that we are kindred spirits (although I have yet to post about any of my craft adventures yet). Thanks for the tutorial--I'll give it a huge workout!

This is the greatest idea---it is SOOOOOO something I would do---I can't wait to try this---is the template somewhere that I could download? I have the PTI set that would work great with this box. I LOVE the crimped paper idea. Thanks so much for this great tutorial! I enjoy your blog a lot!
